Aquest és un projecte finançat per la Unió Europea a través del programa Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI), en el que participen 69 centres de recerca acadèmics i 9 laboratoris farmacèutics, que té una durada de 7 anys i un pressupost de 80 milions d’euros i que té com a objectiu conèixer millor quins són els mecanismes moleculars que provoquen la manca de resposta als tractaments en les malalties autoimmunes.
Els investigadors del Servei de Malalties Autoimmunes que hi participen són els doctors Ricard Cervera i Gerard Espinosa, els quals, juntament amb els altres investigadors del Clínic-IDIBAPS, Luis Quintana, Juan Cañete, Azucena Salas, Àlvar Agustí, Yolanda Blanco i Adriana Garcia-Herrera, han rebut una dotació d’1,5 milions d’euros per a portar a terme la recerca en el lupus eritematós sistèmic i altres malalties autoimmunes.
Del 8 al 10 d’octubre de 2025 es va portar a terme el 6th 3TR AnnualMeeting a la Facultat de Medicina i Ciències de la Salut de la Universitat de Barcelona, coordinat pel Dr. Ricard Cervera, on hi van participar més de 200 investigadors d’aquest projecte.
