Manuel Ferreira Gomes, awarded with the Scholarship for the Best Clinical Research Project in Autoimmunity NEDAI 2018

Manuel Ferreira Gomes, MD, Master on Autoimmune Diseases by the University of Barcelona (2016) and former fellow at the Department of Autoimmune Diseases of the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona (2017) has been awarded with the Scholarship for the Best Clinical Research Project in Autoimmunity NEDAI 2018 ("Bolsa de Estudo Clínico em Autoimunidade NEDAI 2018") at the XXIV Annual Meeting of the Autoimmune Diseases Study Group / Portuguese Society of Internal Medicine ("XXIV Reunião Anual do Núcleo de Estudos de Doenças Autoimunes / Sociedade Portuguesa de Medicina Interna") that took place on April 12-14, 2018, at Vila Real, Portugal.

Dr. Ferreira's project is devoted to study the role of infiltrating macrophages as marker of severity in proliferative lupus nephritis and is performed in collaboration with Drs. Luis F. Quintana, Manuel Sole and Ricard Cervera, from the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona, as part of the PhD program of the University of Barcelona.
