Fabiola Atzeni, MD, PhD, former
fellow at the Department of Autoimmune Diseases of the Hospital Clínic in Barcelona (1999), has been appointed as Associate Professor at the Università degli Studi di Messina in Sicily, Italy, as well as coordinator of the Department of Rheumatology of this University.
Dr. Atzeni performed her residency training at the University of Cagliari in Sardinia, Italy (including one year fellowship in the Department of Autoimmune Diseases of the Hospital Clínic), the PhD doctorate at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, with postgraduate fellowships in USA, Germany and England. She also performed recently the Master on Autoimmune Diseases of the University of Barcelona (2015-17).
She is internationally recognized for her studies on the management of rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus and currently coordinates the Handbook of Systemic Autoimmune Diseases published by Elsevier.
